Our History

How it all Began:

In 1961, an orphan was left at the doorstep of the Grand Rabbi of Sanz Klausenberg, Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Halberstam. The Grand Rabbi was very sensitive to the horrors of the Holocaust. He himself lost his own wife and eleven children during the war. He immediately responded by opening his home to these orphan children. Eventually, he established the Maon L’Tinakot to help orphans and at-risk girls from Netanya and beyond.

Since the Founding of Lev LaLev:

Since 1961 the Orphanage and Children’s Home has given orphaned and disadvantaged girls from throughout Israel a safe, warm, and loving Home. The Orphanage provides these girls with all their essential needs for the Holidays and throughout the year.

Lev LaLev helps orphans by giving them individualized therapy, mentoring, and tutoring and help them with life cycle events. Such as their Bat Mitzvahs, graduations, and weddings.

In November 2006, the Lev Lalev Fund was established. Our mission is to help provide funding and support for the programs and projects for the girls at the Orphanage. In addition to assisting with the annual budget, we have set up designated giving opportunities for specific programs and projects.

Today, Lev Lalev Fund has over twenty-five hundred donors, worldwide, who are part of our extended Lev LaLev family.

Our partnership with the Lev Lalev friends is very dynamic. We have a Kotel prayer program where our girls pray (daven) for the wellbeing of those in need.

Additionally, we send out our electronic newsletter to over eight thousand people. We ask our donors to pray and advocate for the wellbeing of Israel, and for peace throughout the world.  Make Lev Lalev is your personal connection to Israel.

Your charity, Tzedekah, can make a crucial difference in the lives of our over one hundred unfortunate Jewish -Israeli Girls. Every donation helps to strengthen our girls and empower them and gives them the second chance for a bright future!

When they have nowhere to turn, who will be there for them?
