One of the favorite parts of my job (I have a lot of favorites!) is working with the Bat Mitzvah girls to help them do a project to benefit the girls living at the Lev LaLev Orphanage.
Usually, no two Bat Mitzvah projects are the same. Each project is unique and customized according to the Bat Mitzvah girl’s hobbies and interest. Together with the Bat Mitzvah girl, I brainstorm to see what we can come up with that would make a difference in the lives of the girls at Lev LaLev Orphanage in Israel.
It was a great pleasure working with Micayla Farber, a sweet young lady from Texas, who had her Bat Mitzvah here in Israel last week. F
or her Mitzvah Project, Micayla sold homemade dog treats (this was a first!). She raised close to $2,000 by selling her treats!
Some of our Bat Mitzvah girls are very fortunate, and they get to visit the girls while they are in Israel. Micayla came to Israel to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah this June, and visited the girls during her stay.
Micayla loves art, so for her Mitzvah Project, she chose to raise funds for the girls to have an exciting art activity and dance class. The best part was that she was able to join the girls for this event! She really enjoyed spending time with the girls during her visit, and even getting to make some nice crafts with them.
Together with the girls, she decorated adorable tambourines with a parable and saying on it. The girls enjoyed ‘shmoozing’ with her, while they did their crafts.
Following the craft activity, the girls had a dance class, Israeli style, with a well-known dance teacher. Of course, they put Micayla up on a chair and sang happy birthday to her, they danced so lively – it was amazing to feel the Simcha, joy, in the air.
Mazel Tov Micayla on your Bat Mitzvah, and may you continue to make your parents proud! Thanks for choosing Lev LaLev Girls Orphanage in Israel as your Mitzvah Project.
