In addition to the transformative experiences of changing places and finding a new lease on life, Lev Lalev’s mission extends to strengthening the Jewish community as a whole. By providing a supportive and nurturing environment for Jewish orphaned girls, Lev Lalev not only helps them individually but also contributes to the vibrancy and continuity of the Jewish community. These girls, through their growth and development within Lev Lalev, become empowered individuals who can make meaningful contributions to their community. By investing in the well-being and future of these girls, Lev Lalev plays a vital role in building a strong and connected Jewish community, where each member is valued and supported. Together, with the support of individuals like you, Lev Lalev fosters a sense of unity and collective responsibility within the Jewish community, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
Changing places, can change our mazal. In this week’s Torah portion, Hashem commands Avraham, “Go far from your land, your birthplace, and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.” For Avraham to build a legacy and a new nation, had to break with the past and embrace the future. For our girls at Lev Lalev, this, too, is a valuable, yet oftentimes a painful lesson. The homes in which they grew up in, and the environment surrounding it, was not conducive or healthy for a variety of reasons. Indeed, Israel’s Department of Social Welfare matches our girls with an orphanage or group home that bests suits their needs. From here our girls learn to grow and develop a healthy and positive direction. Your participation in this holy effort helps make the weak strong and gives the girls a new perspective and a new lease on life. Shabbat shalom.
